BridgeDrop is a privacy-first, local network file-sharing application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring your data stays under your control.

2. Data Collection

BridgeDrop operates on a zero data collection model:

  • No user accounts required
  • No cloud storage or servers
  • No analytics or tracking
  • No personal information collected
  • No data sent to third parties

3. Data Storage (Local Only)

BridgeDrop stores the following data locally on your device:

  • App preferences (theme, download location)
  • Trusted device public keys (for secure pairing)
  • Transfer history (can be cleared)

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.

4. Permissions Explained

  • Storage — To read files you choose to send and to save received files.
  • Internet / Network — For local device-to-device communication on your Wi-Fi network.
  • Location (Fine/Coarse) — Required by Android for Wi-Fi discovery on Android 10+; not used for GPS or tracking.

5. Data Transmission

  • Transfers occur only over your local network (Wi-Fi).
  • All transfers are end-to-end encrypted (X25519 + AES-GCM).
  • No data passes through our servers or the public internet.
  • Peer-to-peer between your devices.

6. Security

  • E2E encryption for all transfers
  • Device verification via fingerprint matching
  • No passwords or accounts to compromise
  • Keys generated and stored locally

7. Third-Party Services

BridgeDrop does not use analytics, advertising networks, cloud storage, or any third-party data collection services.

8. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect any information from children. The app is suitable for all ages as it collects no personal data.

9. Data Retention

  • Settings — Stored until the app is uninstalled or data is cleared.
  • Transfer history — Stored locally; can be cleared in settings.
  • Trusted devices — Stored until removed or app data is cleared.

10. Your Rights

You can clear app data, revoke permissions, or uninstall the app at any time.

  • Permissions: Settings → Apps → BridgeDrop → Permissions
